From the start, community has been at the core of who we are and what we do. By getting kids active and leveling the playing field for all athletes*, we’re moving the world forward through the power of play and sport and helping kids realize their greatest potential. We give back and we partner with organizations that share our passion for getting kids moving and leveling playing fields in communities around the world.
Kids aren’t made to sit still—they’re made to play. We know the kids who move are the ones who move the needle. But today’s kids are part of the least active generation ever, and that’s not something that sits well with us.
That’s why we’re stepping in and stepping up through Made to Play, our commitment to getting kids moving through play and sport so that they can lead healthier, happier and more successful lives. We’re designing innovative solutions to get more than 16.5 million kids playing, running and jumping their way to a brighter future.
Together with our employees and partners, we’re excited about the future we’re creating for kids in the communities where we live, work and play. In 2017, we celebrated 45 years of community in Oregon, where Nike was founded. We’re inspired by Oregon’s spirit of grit, innovation and commitment, and use that motivation to fuel change in communities around the world.
Nike believes equality should have no boundaries. We support community organizations like PeacePlayers International, MENTOR—the National Mentoring Partnership and Girls Inc., to advance equality for youth and their communities.
Our employees are talented, passionate about sport and enthusiastic about giving back to their communities. We fuel their efforts through our “Give Your Best” initiative, inspired by legendary U.S. middle distance runner Steve Prefontaine. When employees volunteer their time, or give money to charity, Nike amplifies their impact through Give Your Best, helping give even more.
